Airline Consolidation & TSA Checkpoint
Aria Studio Consultants provided design and construction administration services to support the integration of United Airlines (sUA) and Continental Airlines (sCO) facilities at Kansas City International Airport. This work brought both airlines’ landside and airside operations together into a unified footprint within spaces previously occupied by Midwest Airlines.
The project included improvements to ticketing operations, flight operations, and administrative offices, as well as modifications to lower-level support, ExpressJet maintenance areas, and five departure gates. A key focus of the effort involved the redesign and reconfiguration of the TSA security checkpoint to support the collocation of airline operations and ensure efficient passenger processing. The checkpoint modifications were essential to maintaining controlled access, safety compliance, and a smooth transition as both airlines’ facilities were integrated into their new shared environment.
